Why shouldn’t you buy cheap CBD?
Due to the huge increase in demand for CBD products around the world, some unscrupulous CBD manufacturers have wanted to take advantage of this situation. As a result, they sell cheap, low-quality CBD at a fraction of the cost of more responsible and reliable companies.
However, there are very good reasons why safe and high quality CBD oil is more expensive. That is, in the cost of production of CBD oil is necessary to consider, among other things:
- Farming practices
- Manufacturing processes
- Extraction methods
- Also tests on the final product
All of this represents costs necessary to sell high quality CBD products. For Higea CBD, the safety of our customers is our top priority. This is why we felt it necessary to talk to you about why you shouldn’t buy cheap CBD.
By knowing the dangers of buying cheap CBD oil, you will be able to make safe and informed decisions about the CBD products you consume.
Cheap CBD = lower quality
‘You get what you pay for’, is a saying we’ve all heard at one time or another. Buying a very low-cost version of a product almost always means it is of poor quality. However, when it comes to buying cheap CBD, lower quality products can not only be ineffective, but also harmful.
Because the CBD market in many countries is still unregulated, several suppliers of low quality CBD have discovered methods to take shortcuts. In other words, they sell substandard products that may not be fit for human consumption.
In fact, it is common for these low quality CBD products to contain chemicals, metals, poisons or even illegal levels of THC. Therefore, the product you think you bought may not give you the benefits it says on the label.
In addition, CBD oils that are substantially less expensive than their safe, organic and tested counterparts may not contain CBD cannabidiol at all. This is regardless of what a manufacturer states on their website.
Cheap CBD may not be safe to use
Many don’t know it, but hemp extract has a very intense bitter taste when harvested in its unprocessed form. This is why hemp extract must be completely distilled and condensed by boiling under pressure to generate CBD oil.
To generate a CBD-rich distillate from the broad-spectrum CBD extract, the oil is distilled a second time. Traces of THC are removed during this process. This is what gives you the health benefits of hemp, but without the harmful effects of THC.
As you can imagine, hemp extract distillation requires specialized equipment, technology and manpower. All of this entails costs for companies that they must somehow recover. But although it is a costly process, it is also essential as one of the most important steps in distillation is to remove dangerous chemicals.
Hemp is sourced from crops with poor standards
This is another reason why you shouldn’t buy cheap, low quality CBD. The standards by which hemp is grown vary drastically around the world, as with any plant-based product.
Some countries have extremely strict agricultural regulations, while others do not monitor or audit hemp crops at all. As a result, harmful chemicals and contaminants may be generated in the final CBD product.
In fact, many countries still lack the agricultural standards and regulations necessary for large-scale hemp cultivation. This is mainly because the CBD market is still expanding. As a result, some companies obtain CBD extract from unregulated or substandard crops.
Cheap CBD oil is often unproven
A reputable CBD supplier will use an independent laboratory to test the CBD oil it intends to sell to the regular consumer. In contrast, cheap CBD product companies can claim that their products have been tested in laboratories. However, if the results are not available to the buyer, it is an obvious red flag.
If the website of a company selling CBD does not have a recent set of test results from a certified and credible lab, the product could contain anything, or no CBD at all.
In rare circumstances, products marketed as CBD oil may not even contain CBD. As a result, they can be extremely dangerous for the consumer.
Lab tests are important because they show that a product contains exactly what it says on the label and is safe to use. Obviously, this kind of evidence is expensive, so companies that avoid it can make whatever claims they want without having to pay for the evidence to back them up.
Cheap CBD product could contain higher THC concentration
In most countries where CBD oil is allowed, the law states that to be legal it must contain less than 0.2% THC. Remember that THC is the natural ingredient in hemp that makes you feel high.
It’s another reason why responsible CBD companies use third-party lab testing. That is, they perform these tests to confirm that their products contain the permitted amount of THC or less.
If you buy inexpensive CBD oil and can’t prove that it contains 0.2% THC or less through an independent test report, your body could have much higher levels of THC. In other words, you would be using a substance that is illegal under the law.
A higher THC concentration may not only show up in a drug test. They can also cause unpleasant side effects that you should not experience with high quality CBD oil.
