Sebum-regulating effect of CBD
This time we want to tell you about the sebum-regulating effect of CBD. Evidence suggests that CBD creams may be effective in regulating sebum production, which is known to be one of the causes of acne.
In fact, CBD could be used to treat acne, depending on the type of acne a person has and what is causing it. Of course, the above could change on a case-by-case basis.
Because of its ability to modify the way the body produces sebum, CBD oil can help reduce many types of acne. Recall that the skin produces sebum, which is an oily, waxy material. Additionally, CBD is famous for its anti-inflammatory qualities.

What is tallow?
Before discussing CBD as a facial sebum regulator, it is important to understand what sebum is. It all starts in the sebaceous glands, which are present on almost every surface of our body. These glands secrete sebum, a yellowish, greasy material.
Sebum seals in moisture and prevents the skin from remaining too dry thanks to its special composition. In addition, it is considered the body’s first line of defense against infections, due to its antibacterial qualities.
Although sebum is vital for overall health and well-being, excessive or insufficient production of sebum (caused, for example, by hormonal changes) is linked to skin problems such as acne, oily skin and persistent itching.
Sebum production
Sebum production involves what is known as holocrine secretion, a mechanism by which the sebaceous glands produce sebum. Each gland is attached to a hair follicle.
The lipids produced by the glands remain inside the glands in sac form for approximately one week. After this, the sac ruptures, allowing sebum to freely enter the hair follicle. The grease is then transferred to the skin through the hair, lubricating and protecting it.
The sebum-regulating effect of CBD has gained notoriety because most of the sebaceous glands are located on the face, head, upper neck and chest. Therefore, when sebum production is excessive, these areas are more likely to have acne breakouts or oily skin.
Our genetics determine the size of our glands, and how hormones affect them. Consequently, you will have a greater chance of developing the same condition if you have close relatives who have acne, dry skin, or other sebum-related conditions.
What if your skin produces too much sebum?
Hormones regulate sebum production. This means that if you have a hormonal imbalance, you may produce too much sebum, and as a result experience different skin conditions, including:
Acne
It appears mainly during adolescence and can cause an increase in sebum production. You can use CBD oil to treat acne, thanks to its sebum-regulating effect and its anti-inflammatory properties.
Dermatitis seborreica
This is another consequence of excessive sebum production. It is an inflammatory skin disorder. It can cause dandruff, as well as itching and flaking of the skin. Hygea CBD creams are suitable for treating this condition as they act as sebum regulators, controlling sebum production.
Oily skin
Oily skin can be a symptom of acne, although not in all cases. If your skin looks oily, your pores look larger, while your skin looks impure. Including a sebum-regulating CBD facial oil in your facial cleansing routine can help you effectively treat oily skin.
What is the sebum-regulating effect of CBD?
Our skin is protected from the environment by sebum. But it could combine with dirt, other contaminants, or dead skin cells. As a result, sebum could end up clogged inside a pore. This is relevant because acne develops from this blocked pore.
As mentioned above, acne is influenced by a variety of factors, including heredity, hormonal imbalances and excessive sebum production.
How does all this relate to the sebum-regulating effect of CBD? In 2014, the effects of CBD on human sebocytes were studied. These are the cells that produce sebum in our body. The research revealed that CBD prevented these cells from producing an excessive amount of oily sebum.
It was also shown that CBD oil caused the cells to have an anti-inflammatory response and stopped the activation of inflammatory cytokines.
This is equally important because reducing cytokines can help prevent new acne outbreaks, as they are often a trigger.
Because of this, CBD is considered to be a natural facial sebum regulator, which could be used in the treatment of acne, and other skin conditions related to excess sebum.
Can I use a sebum-regulating cream with CBD to reduce excess sebum?
Higea CBD creams are famous for their multiple health benefits for the skin. Among them, the sebum-regulating effect of CBD stands out. Therefore, you can use Higea CBD sebum-regulating cream if your skin produces excessive sebum.
In fact, both creams and oils of Hygea CBD are suitable for regulating excess sebum in the skin. It is not for nothing that they are often called sebum regulators, thanks to their ability to control the amount of sebum produced by the body.
The great thing is that you can use a
facial sebum regulator with CBD
directly by applying the cream to your skin. The advantage of using Higea CBD sebum-regulating cream is that it contains the best carrier oils for a perfect absorption.
