Com a etimologia do estado grego “Homo”- igual e “Stasis” significa manter um estado interno constante. Hoje a medicina moderna ressuscitou este termo e procura a homeostase como um objetivo terap\u00eautico.<\/strong><\/p>\n

O que \u00e9 homeostase?<\/h2>\n

Os nossos sensores em todo o corpo enviam sinais ao c\u00e9rebro sobre o que se passa l\u00e1 fora e como nos afeta a todo o momento. O c\u00e9rebro regula certas fun\u00e7\u00f5es fisiol\u00f3gicas para alcan\u00e7ar um equil\u00edbrio e “que tudo corra bem”. Podemos dizer que a homeostase \u00e9 um mecanismo de autorregula\u00e7\u00e3o do nosso corpo que mant\u00e9m o ambiente interno est\u00e1vel, independentemente das condi\u00e7\u00f5es externas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

O que tem de ser equilibrado para que “tudo fique bem”?<\/h2>\n

Por exemplo, os seres humanos s\u00e3o endot\u00e9rmicos, por isso temos de regular a nossa temperatura corporal para que fique sempre a rondar os 36 ou 37oC. Os nossos n\u00edveis sangu\u00edneos de a\u00e7\u00facar, \u00e1gua, sais, oxig\u00e9nio, etc… tamb\u00e9m devem ser estabilizados para que o resto do nosso corpo funcione normalmente. Ou seja, in\u00fameras vari\u00e1veis que nos afetam biologicamente devem ser equilibradas para garantir que o nosso organismo funcione corretamente.<\/p>\n

Imagina que est\u00e1s no meio do ver\u00e3o a andar na rua a 40oC. Os sensores nervosos sentem calor extremo e, porque para que tudo funcione bem o seu corpo tem de manter uma temperatura constante, o c\u00e9rebro come\u00e7a a enviar sinais para as gl\u00e2ndulas su sweat para que produzam suor e resultem na redu\u00e7\u00e3o da temperatura corporal. Tamb\u00e9m enviar\u00e1 sinais para que os seus capilares dilatam para ajud\u00e1-lo a livrar-se do calor insuport\u00e1vel que est\u00e1 a alterar a temperatura do seu corpo homeost\u00e1tico. Se de repente entrar num centro comercial com ar condicionado completo, come\u00e7ar\u00e1 a tir, pois o corpo tentar\u00e1 novamente aumentar a temperatura do seu corpo.<\/p>\n

Todos estes fen\u00f3menos ocorrem \u00e0 medida que o nosso sistema nervoso envia sinais de feedback negativos ou positivos para implementar os mecanismos fisiol\u00f3gicos necess\u00e1rios que devolvem o corpo a um estado est\u00e1vel ou nos ajudam com certas fun\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n

No exemplo do suor e da tiritera estamos a falar de feedback negativo, uma vez que quando se sente quente ou frio o c\u00e9rebro envia sinais para arrefecer ou aquecer o corpo, ou seja, visa contrariar o efeito que est\u00e1 a quebrar o equil\u00edbrio da temperatura corporal. Sentimo-nos quentes porque a temperatura do nosso corpo est\u00e1 a subir, process\u00e1mos e, como resultado, a temperatura do corpo diminui. No caso do frio, precisamos de tir para aumentar a nossa temperatura. Ou seja, depois de receber os sinais nervosos, ocorrem altera\u00e7\u00f5es homeost\u00e1ticas para estabilizar o nosso organismo.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m disso, h\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m feedback positivo com o qual o nosso c\u00e9rebro envia “ajuda” ou sinais que acompanham um efeito desejado e necess\u00e1rio. Por exemplo, durante o parto natural, quando uma mulher experimenta contra\u00e7\u00f5es, o c\u00e9rebro liberta oxitocina, uma hormona que estimula as contra\u00e7\u00f5es e dilata o canal de nascimento para facilitar a sa\u00edda do beb\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Ent\u00e3o a homeostase \u00e9 essencial para que tudo corra bem no nosso corpo. Como numa orquestra, o c\u00e9rebro tem que trabalhar como maestro para fazer todos os instrumentos tocar em devido tempo e harmoniosamente.
