Lecithin in cannabis edibles

Lecithin in cannabis edibles is another way you can get the full benefits of cannabidiol CBD. However, many people still do not know which foods with lecithin are best to consume.

I mean, marijuana brownies, for example, are a favorite dessert for stoners who like sweets. Maybe you once ate one at a party, but had an unpleasant encounter because there was too much cannabis in that brownie.

The good news is that in the wonderful world of edibles, adding cannabis to food these days is much more enjoyable than tasting traditional brownies. In other words, you can put cannabis in any dish you can think of, in any dosage you want.

What is lecithin?

Lecithin is a fat needed by the body’s cells. Many foods contain it, including soybeans and egg yolks. It is considered a substance that can be used as a drug and is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals.

It is also used to treat memory problems such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It has even been used to treat gallbladder disease, liver disease, as well as certain forms of depression, high cholesterol, anxiety, and eczema, a skin condition.

Some people use lecithin as a skin moisturizer, and also as a food additive. It is used to prevent the separation of some ingredients. Also, some eye medications may contain lecithin as an ingredient. In these cases the goal is to keep the medication in contact with the cornea of the eye.

Improves the absorption of cannabinoids

Lecithin is a common ingredient in foods like chocolate and most of us are familiar with it. It acts as an emulsifier, binding and smoothing everything. It is even used in many pharmaceuticals to help the drug get into the system faster.

In addition, lecithin enhances the absorption of THC and other cannabinoids into cell membranes, speeding up the process when applied to cannabis coconut oil, or hash butter. It doesn’t actually make cannabis oil more potent in any way.

What it does do is increase the effectiveness of the oil, so a 100 mg dose will still be 100 mg, but the results will be greater and faster. This way, you can use less oil in your recipes, or use the same amount.

What are cannabis edibles?

Cannabis edibles include brownies, cookies, pasta and other baked goods. The advantage of this is that cannabis can be easily mixed into any recipe that calls for butter or oil.

However, cannabinoids that are ingested are processed differently than those that are inhaled. In fact, when you ingest cannabinoids in the form of food, they pass through the digestive system just like any other food and are absorbed through the walls of the stomach and intestine. The cannabinoids are then transported to the liver, where they are metabolized.

In addition, edibles have a delayed onset because THC travels a longer path to the brain, compared to smoked THC, which can take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours to take effect. This depends on the metabolism, the endocannabinoid system and the physiology of each person.

Cannabis edibles include sweet treats like brownies, cookies and gummies, as well as CBD oils, cannabutter and cannasugar, which are suitable for cooking. These cannabis-based ingredients can be used to prepare a variety of dishes, including noodles, soups, vegetables, among others.

In reality, cannabis edibles are basically any type of food that has been made with marijuana in some way.

Sunflower lecithin and soy lecithin emulsifier

Sunflower lecithin is made by dehydrating a sunflower and separating the oil, gum and solids into three sections. Chewing gum is what provides the lecithin. It is extracted by a cold pressing method similar to that used to extract olive oil.

The emulsifier soy lecithin, on the other hand, is extracted from raw soybeans. In this case the oil is first extracted with a chemical solvent, usually hexane. Afterwards, the oil goes through a process known as degumming, to separate the lecithin and dry it.

It is worth mentioning that people used to add lecithin to cannabis oil because they assumed that one of the only sources was soy lecithin, which is composed almost entirely of genetically modified soybeans.

However, sunflower lecithin has been found to be an excellent substitute. It is still reasonably priced and readily available. For example, sunflower lecithin powder is relatively inexpensive and is not genetically modified.

Initially, sunflower lecithin gel capsules were the only presentation in which they could be found, and they worked perfectly. Despite this, they tended to be much more expensive. The capsules also contain binders and other substances.

Why is lecithin used in CBD oil?

When added to cannabis coconut oil or cannabutter, lecithin increases the absorption of THC and other cannabinoids into cell membranes, as well as speeding up the absorption process. It won’t make your cannabis oil more effective, but it might make it work faster. This means you could use less cannabis oil in your recipes.

The process can be completed before digestion because lecithin contains phospholipids, which make it water soluble and absorbable by encapsulating the THC. Because the liposomal encapsulation process that lecithin promotes makes edibles particularly potent, it allows THC within the body to be more easily absorbed.

Lecithin is also a surfactant or a substance that reduces surface tension. It helps THC to be distributed more quickly in the body than THC would be absorbed on its own.
