CBD and CBDA
What they are and how they differ
CBD and CBDA are part of the cannabinoid family. Both are compounds formed from the hemp plant and cannabis.
In the case of CBD, this is considered to be the most promising if we look into its use for medicinal purposes.
The CBDA, on the other hand, has been somewhat neglected in these investigations. However, thanks to the booming trend of drinking smoothies made with cannabis leaves, it has been put back to the attention of the medical and scientific field.
However, in order for you to differentiate these two types of cannabinoids, let’s get into matter.

What is CBD
The name CBD is cannabidiol. It is a 100% natural compound found in the resinous flower that comes from cannabis. This plant has had a long history as a drug for thousands of years.
Today, scientists around the world research and verify its therapeutic properties.
It is a non-addictive substance, is very safe and is very closely related to another cannabinoid phyto: THC.
THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the compound that causes that psychoactivity that has made cannabis so famous and known.
Both this and the previous one are two of the compounds that scientists have studied most over the years.
Cbd uses
This is where interest in CBD comes from, which can alleviate chronic pain and other pathologies such as depression, anxiety or inflammation.
Despite not having the ability to cure any disease, it can relieve the pain or symptoms of some of them.
This is the case, for example, with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease or neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.
It also calms symptoms related to diabetes or obesity, as well as autism or alcoholism.
It is recommended in cases of tummy disorders or cardiovascular dysfunction and skin diseases such as acne or psoriasis.
How it works in our body
Both CBD and THC can interact in the body in several ways. One of the main ways is through imitation and increased effects produced by endogenous cannabinoids.
These are found inside the body and are thus known for their similarity to the compounds found in the cannabis plant.
They are also part of a system known as“endocannabinoid system”.
Thanks to this discovery, understanding of health and disease has improved. This system has a crucial role, as it regulates a wide range of physiological processes such as mood, energy level, etc.
If it doesn’t work the right way or stops working, the disease arrives. CBD and THC are responsible for modulating this system, so they manage to mitigate some effects, symptoms and pains caused by various diseases.
CBD Isolate or Isolated: What is it?
CBD isolate is considered to be the best source of this compound. However, it is mixed with other specific oils to isolate pain and mitigate the symptoms of diseases such as schizophrenia or cancer.
To obtain it, it is extracted through a method based on removing CO2 and other unwanted plant-based ingredients found in the cannabis plant. The plant strains are then filtered and purified.
The process described causes CBD isolate to occur in its purest form. It is a breakthrough in science that manages to highlight natural remedies as an aid for some medical treatments. This can be consumed directly.
Natural relationship between CBD and CBDA
There is a natural relationship between CBD and CBDA. In the second case, it is found in the plant raw material that is not processed, being the acid pioneer of active CBD. Both, however, develop in cannabis plants in the form of CBGA.
When an enzyme arrives, CBDA synthese is the one that converts CBGA into CBDA. That is, CBD is formed from CBDA by going through a process of decarboxylation (applying heat in order to remove the carboxyl group).
This process can occur instantly or more slowly. This second option is given when the plant matter is allowed to rest properly.
Differences between CBD and CBDA
Neither CBDA nor CBD are psychotropic compounds. I mean, they won’t get you to stand up or be a threat to mental processes.
CBDA is considered inactive, a CBD auxiliary. However, it also has very interesting potential.
Like CBD, CBDA has antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory traits. However, the latter does not have a great research behind it as it does in other cases. For this reason, the former has obtained a favor treatment in the calm of pain.
CBDA functions
Some of the symptoms and illnesses that CBDA manages to calm are, for example, the nausea and vomiting.
To measure the results, the researchers used animals such as shrews or mice to check it out.
It also does its function to relieve inflammation. At this point it comes very close to the benefits of CBD and was shown to be even better than THC to block one of the enzymes that produce inflammation.
Several studies are investigating its use to alleviate symptoms of breast cancer. However, this is a controversial issue and where the investigation has not yet investigated too much. In this sense, science has turned to CBD and THC.
However, as can be seen, it is only a matter of time before the scientific field further examines the advantages of CBDA.
