Can CBD help you with a toothache?
Got a toothache and a bottle of CBD handy?
If you’re looking for relief from dental pain that keeps you awake and all you have on hand is your bottle of CBD oil, give it a try. Also, if you don’t get an immediate appointment at your dentist, the CBD may be able to ease the painful wait until you can visit a professional.
The most frequent causes of toothache
Although in this article we do not intend to cure your pain but to help you calm it down until you can visit a specialist, let’s review above what are the reasons why our teeth usually hurt.
Most of the time the cause of a toothache is inflammation of the pulp of the tooth. The pulp is a tissue found just below the enamel. Any crack or break in the enamel caused by a blow, recent treatment, or a cavity infection will leave the tooth pulp exposed and unprotected so it is likely to become infected.
Sometimes tooth pain can be due to inflamed gums, abscesses, sinusitis, or jaw injuries.

Natural remedies to relieve toothache
As toothache is usually due to inflammation (pulpitis) caused by any of the above-mentioned causes, remedies include all types of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs that act on pain and inflammation. However, sometimes we do not have (or prefer to avoid) these drugs and the pain causes us insomnia and discomfort so we cannot lead a normal life until we are seen by a specialist.
The most important thing to alleviate dental pain is to look for remedies that, on the one hand, help with inflammation and on the other hand, are antibacterial so that the infection does not proliferate. Among the most popular home remedies for toothache are
Garlic: due to its disinfectant and anti-inflammatory properties you can carefully chew a clove of garlic with a pinch of salt or make a paste with both ingredients and apply it to the affected area.
Ginger: Ginger root is a fundamental medicinal herb in oriental medicine. Keeping a sliver of fresh ginger root pressed on your sore teeth for a few minutes will help you salivate and impregnate the area with the healing power of ginger.
Anise seeds: Anise seeds have been used since ancient Egyptian times as a dental analgesic. Prepare an infusion as a rinse or carefully chew several anise seeds.
Clove: Clove oil has antibacterial properties and is ideal for disinfecting the affected area.
Sage: just make an infusion with a couple of dried or fresh sage leaves that will act as an analgesic when you rinse with the infusion. Wait for it to cool to room temperature so as not to damage your enamel with sudden changes in mouth temperature.
